Africa photography to inspire the soul

Roger’s first show, Eyes of Africa, examines the beautiful faces he encountered amidst a range of diverse settings throughout Kenya and Tanzania. From the slums of Nairobi (the Mukuru), to the villages of the Masai Mara, to the Serengeti plains and the Ngorongoro Crater – the beauty he has captured assumes various forms.

Roger was particularly drawn to the children of the Mukuru, who serve as the inspiration for his show. “These children seem impossibly happy in spite of the enormously difficult conditions in which they live.”

In addition to raising awareness for the cause, Roger is donating a portion of proceeds from pieces sold in the Eyesof Africa collection to several charities dedicated to better health for women and children in Africa including AMREF and Keep a Child Alive.  (For more information, please visit www.amref.org and www.keepachildalive.org.) Eyes of Africa will be on display at the de Castellane Gallery in Brooklyn NY from May 7 to May 31, 2010 (www.decastellanegallery.com).

Roger is proud to share his passion for photography with others in New York for the first time.
